Democratic Republic of Congo pledges to end child labour in mines

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) acknowledged that children are working in artisanal cobalt mines and has made a commitment to eliminate child labour in the mining sector by 2025. This new strategy is thought to be a direct response to a report by Amnesty International last year which exposed the human rights abuses behind the global trade in cobalt.
