Rob joined the Cobalt Institute in October 2025 as the Associate Toxicologist (Environment). In his role, he applies his knowledge gained from experience in ecotoxicological field monitoring and laboratory studies to support the chemicals management team.
Before working at the Cobalt Institute, Rob worked as a post-doctoral researcher investigating metal ecotoxicology and the compounding impacts of climate change on ecosystem health and food security in Indonesia. He also has extensive experience conducting laboratory tests and applying high-throughput molecular biology methods to elucidate the effects of abiotic stressors, pathogens, and chemical substances on organism health. Rob holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Exeter and completed his PhD on stress biology and epigenetics in fish with the University of Exeter and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas).
