Webinar – Enabling Cobalt’s Potential in the EU: Towards the Best Workplace Value
28 June 2023, 10.30 – 11.30 CET
Europe needs cobalt for the green, equitable and just energy transition and its strategic autonomy. At the same time, European workers must be protected from risks arising when working with cobalt. The European Commission is therefore determining workplace values for cobalt and inorganic cobalt compounds (Occupational Exposure Limit Values).
But the overly theoretical and low values proposed by the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) can discourage investment in the EU and massively endanger the production, recycling, and use of cobalt substances in the EU. This comes at a time when countries like the US foster their strategic industries and competitive advantage to attract investments in critical materials like cobalt.
Join the Cobalt Institute’s webinar to understand how important it is to identify the appropriate values to ensure workplace safety while achieving the EU green transition ambitions. During the webinar, the Cobalt Institute will provide a holistic overview of the state of play, present the science and socio-economic impact assessment (performed by eftec), and launch the recommended Cobalt Institute values for the first time.
