The CI is recognised as an influencer in the CSR space

The Cobalt Institute (CI) is pleased to announce that David Weight, Past President of the CI, has been named one of the 2020 CSR Top 100 Corporate Social Responsibility Influence Leaders.

The CI promotes the sustainable and responsible use of cobalt in all forms and has recognised for many years that there was a need for responsible and sustainable mining practices. This has been approached collectively in order to help improve public awareness, address concern for the environment and introduce the broader concept of sustainability.

With this in mind, the Cobalt Institute developed the Cobalt Industry Responsible Assessment Framework (CIRAF) which aims to enhance due diligence in the cobalt supply chain. CIRAF helps cobalt supply chain players identify production and sourcing related risks then mitigate those risks should they exist. It is a management tool that enables participants to prove that they are aligned with global best practices in responsible production and sourcing by implementing key state-of-the-art responsible sourcing and production standards.

The CI also recently launched a dedicated website (responsiblecobalt.org) which is an information hub relating to responsible cobalt and the CIRAF initiative.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Influence Leaders report recognizes professionals who have been instrumental in driving sustainability standards both within their company and across the global business landscape. The list is published annually and recognize the contributions of professionals in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) space that have influenced positive changes in sustainability, human rights, and other areas.
