Dr Vanessa Viegas (DABT)
As a human health toxicologist at the Cobalt Institute, Vanessa’s responsibilities are to manage different aspects of the human health and regulatory research programmes, provide toxicological and regulatory advice as related to EU REACH and other global regulations and provide input into higher level messaging and communication of complex scientific concepts to a general audience. Vanessa has represented Cobalt Institute and Cobalt REACH Consortium’s scientific and regulatory positions to international regulators, national authorities and at international conferences.
Prior to joining the Cobalt Institute in 2015, Vanessa was a Research Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire, focusing on dermal projects in their Toxicology Department. A citizen of both Canada and the United Kingdom, Vanessa holds a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences from McMaster University, a MSc in Toxicology from University of Surrey and a PhD in Dermal Nanotoxicology from University of Hertfordshire in conjunction with Public Health England. Vanessa is a board-certified Toxicologist and a member of the Society of Toxicology and British Toxicology Society.
